Feature Overview

What is the eligibility checker?

The eligibility checker allows an unauthenticated user to check to see if their plan benefits have started yet. They can do this before they’ve setup an online account, or even received their ID card yet.

How does a member open the eligibility checker?

On the login screen, they click the “Has my plan started yet?” link.

What does the member need to enter to use the eligibility checker?

The user will be required to enter the following values:

  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Last 4 of SSN
  • Zip Code

If the values match a plan on file, the user will be informed of the date that plan benefits begin.

Feature Availability

v1 – Chatbot

The initial version of this feature was launched as a pilot in early 2018 on the Android app. Users entered the datapoints one-by-one in an interaction with the Premera Scout virtual assistant.

v2 – Form Fields

After the pilot and subsequent research about the chatbot interface, the feature was reworked to use technology that was more extendable and that better aligned with member expectations around interacting with a tool like this.
