Tutorial: Premera UWP App

Sign in

  • If you don’t have a Premera account yet:

  • Click the “Create New Account” button to begin the registration process. Make sure to have your insurance ID card handy!
  • This will open the premera.com account creation page in their web browser. This will be the exact same process that a member uses to create an account on the website.
  • Passwords are case sensitive. Spaces are not allowed, and these 5 special characters allowed -_’.@
  • Don’t remember your username or password? Don’t worry. You can reset your password or retrieve their username from the “Forgot User ID or Password” link.
  • Can’t log in?
  • Premera cares about security. After three incorrect password attempts, the account will become locked. To unlock the account, you can either reset your password or call Customer Service.
  • Members are not notified in the mobile app that their account is locked.
  • Remember User ID

  • Select this toggle on the login screen for the app to remember your username the next time you log in
  • Enable Windows Hello

  • To enable Windows Hello, select the “Use Windows Hello” toggle then sign in by typing in your usual password into the Password text box. Next follow the instructions on the dialog, which will prompt you to log in via Windows Hello PIN or Facial Recognition. The next time you log into the app you’ll only receive the Windows Hello recognition prompt, no need to type in your password.
  • If the user hasn’t set up Windows Hello on their laptop/tablet, they will be prompted to do so. This process takes place in the settings section of the laptop/tablet. please note they will have to set up a PIN for their laptop/tablet if they have not previously done so. After they follow the instructions there, they will be able to re-enter the app and follow the process outlined above to enable Windows Hello in the Premera app.

Windows Hello Authentication

  • When prompted by the dialog, log into the app via your Windows Hello PIN or Facial Recognition. You may be prompted to re-enter your password if you haven’t logged in for a period of time to keep your information secure.

Dashboard

  • The dashboard is the central hub of the app. Here, you can see member ID and deductible information at a glance. You may also search for providers and view your recent claims. Selecting any of the sections leads to a more detailed or expanded view.

  • Pull up your ID card by selecting the “View full ID card” link on the dashboard.
  • Save and email or print: You can save the card to your laptop/tablet by selecting the save icon in the lower left hand corner, selecting where you want it saved to, then selecting the “Select Folder” button on the pop up. To email this card to your provider, locate where you saved the image and attach it to an email using your default email. To print, select the print icon in the lower left hand corner and follow the pop up prompts to print to your selected printer.

Costs and Savings

  • To view the Costs and Savings page, select the Cost & Savings folder icon from the left side navigation menu. Here, you can see recent information on your individual and family deductibles and out-of-pocket-maximums.
  • To select a different plan, select the down arrow in the dropdown box below “Select a plan” (defaulted to Family Medical, if applicable) at the top of the page. Selecting one of the other options there will automatically collapse the menu and show the information you’ve chosen.
  • Plan year can be viewed at the bottom of this page.

CLAIM STATUS

Navigate to claims via the left side navigation menu, or by selecting an individual claim from the card. If there are too many claims to display here, a ‘view all claims’ button will be visible at the bottom of the list.
  • Navigate to claim status either from the dashboard, or via the Costs and Savings folder icon from the left side navigation menu. Also, from the dashboard select any of the individual claims listed to see that claim’s detail.
  • View all claims will display all claims in Claim Status.

    To view details of a claim: Select the claim either from the dashboard or Claim Status page. The first view displays an overview: date of service, provider’s name and phone number (if available), the claim’s status (In process or Processed) ‘Your responsibility,’ and the services encompassed in that claim.

  • To view a cost breakdown: Here is a breakdown of what the claim cost overall (amount billed) and who paid for what portion. If any given category does not apply (has an amount of $0.00) it is not displayed. At the bottom of this screen, the member can find further cost breakdowns of each service if the claim has multiple services.

Find Care

Users can conduct a search from the dashboard, or navigate to Find Care via the left side navigation menu.

NAVIGATE TO FIND CARE

  • To search for doctors, clinics, or hospitals, use Find Care. You can access the search function either from the dashboard, or via the Find care magnifying glass icon from the left side navigation menu. Before searching, you must select either a Provider Name search or a Specialty search option.
  • Provider Name is the best way to check to see if a doctor you already know the name of is in-network. Specialty allows you to find a new doctor in the specialty of your choice. All results are in-network providers.

PROVIDER NAME SEARCH BY CURRENT LOCATION

  • To search for a specific doctor close to your current location, first make sure the ‘Provider Name’ tab is selected above the search field. Then, type in the doctor you want to search for.
  • Below that you’ll see a location field, which defaults to search by Current Location. Selecting “Search by provider name” will conduct the search. Results are sorted by location and are limited to a 20 mile radius.

PROVIDER NAME SEARCH BY CUSTOM LOCATION

  • To search for a specific doctor near a different location, first make sure the ‘Provider Name’ tab is selected above the search field. Then, type in the doctor you want to search for.
  • Below that you’ll see a location field. Select this text box and begin to type the location you want to search in. You can type a city, state or zip code. As you type, suggestions will begin to appear; select the relevant suggestion and “Search by provider name” to conduct the search. Results are sorted by location and are limited to a 20 mile radius.

SPECIALTY SEARCH

  • To search by specialty, first select the Specialty tab. This type of search works a little differently. You’ll need to search for a specialty, either by selecting one of the common searches we suggest or typing in your own, then type in a location or use the “Current location” default. Select “Search by specialty” to conduct your search. Results are sorted by location and are limited to a 20 mile radius.

Pressing the phone number will open the native calling app–likely Skype.
  • Call a provider by selecting the provider’s name from the results list. Then select the phone number in the details. A pop up will open from your laptop/tablet’s default phone app confirming that you’d like to call the number. A default phone apps can be set up through the laptop/tablet’s settings via “Default Apps”.

GET DIRECTIONS from PROVIDER DETAIL PAGE

  • Get directions to a provider by selecting the provider’s name from the results list. Then, select Get directions in the details The address will open in Bing Maps. The Premera app will still be open in the background.
